Cloud computing - the biggest storage media

In the years when a home PC was only for business purposes and only corporates could afford one, the best storage medium available was the tapes. Just thinking back at the bulk of tapes in the storage rooms.

Then came the era of home computing with innovation in storage media, in the form of diskettes. Every home computer or office computer has the best companion (boxes of diskettes) next to it for years to come. They were light and thin compared to tapes but with limited storage capacity.

In the late 1990's, thumb drives were the talk everywhere. With the advance of semiconductor technologies, USB flash drives became smaller in size and higher in capacity. This till date is the medium used to copy large amounts of data and can be used on the go.

Today, we have moved on to another medium for computing and storage. The medium which has great potentials and physically invisible to end user. I refer to it as the lightest medium ever as the end user donot have to carry it physically but is available anywhere anytime. Thanks to advance in mobile technology.

Even though we have the lightest storage and computing medium ever used, the question still lingers in the inquistive mind of every tech geek is "What is the next storage medium?"
